Kyle

The burgeoning Austin suburb of Kyle is coming into its own. From 2010 to 2019, its population jumped 71% to 48,393. But aside from the people flocking to Kyle, employers also are flocking there, too. Current and future employers include Amazon, SmileDirectClub, and RSI. And some of those workers get educated at the Kyle campus of Austin Community College.

But Kyle is perhaps best known as the Pie Capital of Texas, thanks to the tasty reputation of Texas Pie Co. Pie varieties include peach, buttermilk, peanut butter mousse, Dutch apple, blueberry, coconut, chocolate, and Key lime. The folks in Kyle savor their status as the Pie Capital of Texas so much that they launched the two-day Kyle Pie in the Sky Hot Air Balloon Festival.

When people in Kyle aren’t devouring pie, you might find them playing a round at Plum Creek Golf Course, browsing the local flea market, or soaking up nature at Kyle Lake. Or they might be heading north on I-35 for the 20-minute drive to the heart of Austin to take advantage of big-city activities. If they’re eager to visit another big city, the center of San Antonio is only 60 miles to the south.

Sandwiched between two of the biggest cities in Texas, Kyle delivers a relatively quiet suburban existence while also providing ever-growing employment opportunities and easy access to big-city amenities.
